Unknown files on MacBook

Using Finder and sorting by file name, I have over 1,000 files that begin with x26_ and x27_. These are over 10MB each and no application I have opens them. Can I get rid of them?

If it's not content you created, installed or copied to your Mac, I'd advise not.

System files can have all sorts of extensions depending on what the programmer chose to use. Some may not be useful now, but may be so in future releases of apps or whatever.

This is all I could find: https://www.file-extensions.org/x26-file-extension

and: https://www.solvusoft.com/en/file-extensions/file-extension-x27/

They appear to be Microsoft related. Are you using any Microsoft apps or services?
