macOS Sierra 10.12.6

Wondering if it's worth trying to update my 21.5 inch Mid 2011 iMac or just purchase latest mac?

I'm not a heavy user, would like to be able to review/edit old family dvds as well as some current mp4

Suggestions?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12
