MacBook Pro Late 2016 SSD Enclosure

Hi,

unfortunately, my MacBook Pro (A 1708) doesn’t work work anymore. The Apple employee at the Genius Bar removed the SSD and recommended to buy an adapter/enclosure for saving the data/transferring the data to my new MacBook. I’ve been googling for some time now but just can’t find the right one.

Where can I buy an enclosure for my MacBook?

Any help would be very appreciated, thank you!

I am not aware of any enclosures or adapters for the SSD from a USB-C Apple laptop. The only option to get data from that SSD is by installing it into a working MacBook Pro 13" (2016 or 2017) non-touchbar model. Those are the only model laptops that are compatible with that SSD.

You should always have frequent and regular backups of your computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data. FYI, it is impossible to recover accidentally deleted data from an SSD after the Trash has been emptied plus an SSD can fail at any time without any warning signs (even a brand new SSD). Most other 2016+ Macs have their SSDs integrated (aka soldered) onto the Logic Board so if anything happens to the Logic Board there is little to no hope of retrieving data especially from the 2018+ Macs which use hardware encryption.
