Factory resetting Mac, doesn’t want to reinstall maccOS

I’ve backed up my Mac on an external hard drive, logged out of everything, erased my disk, tried to install macOS but gives me this error when loading bar is at 100% “ An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again “ when I try again I get the same error every time.

tried this over and over and tried erasing disk and trying again.

I got to a point where it looked like it was working, no errors when installing, screen went off, Apple logo came on and install bar under it but then screen turns to logo like this 🚫

when I try install I find no disk
