If I use the transfer tool, will virus's on my current Mac transfer to my new machine?
There are no self-replicating, or other "Viruses" on your Mac. This, despite the duplicity of the anti-virus vendors advertising otherwise. The macOS has its own built-in security to prevent bad stuff from infecting your Mac.
On the other hand, you may have introduced other forms of adware and malware on your Mac depending on where you download files from. These can usually be cleared by installing the free to use Malwarebytes, and then if desired, removing that application from your Mac via its Help menu.
To avoid malware in the future, only download files from the original vendor site, and no where else.
