can't delete old apple id

I keep being asked for a password for an old apple id that is no longer active and cannot delete it any ideas?

Mac mini, macOS 12.3

This sounds like “Activation Lock” ???

Assuming that you didn’t completely delete the disused AppleID, you might possibly restore access to it from here:

https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid

You can then enter the current password into the old device.

Ok then.

Assuming that we ARE talking about an “Activation Lock” (???) your only remaining alternative is to request Apple’s help via this online mechanism.

Unfortunately the Apple ID is removed from apple (I believe) but it continues to come up on the computer. The email is now gone as the company has been dissolved.
