Apple Music works over Family Sharing on iPhone, but not on Macs

Hello,


I have a problem. Once added to family, Apple Music works fine on the iOS phone. However it does not work (tries to put me into a free month subscription) on MacOS Apple Music app.

I see the same behaviour on Mac OS 11.6.6 and 12.4.


Actions taken so far:

  • signing off from Apple Music account and on again
  • removing and adding back family share
  • combination of above
  • adding/removing computer as a device for playing Apple Music


What else ?

Are you using the same Apple ID on the Mac as you are on the iPhone? Did you follow the steps in the 'On your Mac' section of:

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music - Apple Support

and the 'On your Mac or PC' section of:

Join Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC - Apple Support
