My ipad mini2 shows that " iOS 9.3.5 Your software is the latest version", so I can't update my iOS to 12. How can I do?

The original iPad Mini was released by Apple in 2012. It cannot be updated beyond iOS 9.3.X.

It’s time to purchase a new iPad.
