Newly created/downloaded files greyed out

Newly created/downloaded files greyed out

In the Finder, newly created or downloaded files greyed are out until I've either closed and reopened the folder in question or changed the names of the files. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this and how to stop it?

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

A few things to try:

delete Finder preferences: In Finder, press Command-Shift-G and paste

~/Library/Preferences/

test in Safe Mode and tell us if the problem occurs; if it does not occur in Safe Mode it points to a software conflict

(These are all non-hidden files stored in folders on the internal hard drive, and none of them in cloud-related folders.)

Thanks, deleting the preferences seems to have fixed it.
