Why do I need to keep resetting my gmail passwords in Apple Mail?

Every week or so I get a message when I open my Apple Mail that I need to re-enter the passwords for my two gmail accounts. Sometimes this is pretty easy to do and some times it takes several tries to get to the place where I can reset my passwords. I like Apple Mail, but this is getting to be a real frustration.

Any suggestions?
