my Mac does not have "devices"in the sidebar

I am trying to upload photos from my I phone

to my mac. but the photo app does not have "devices" in the sidebar

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.6

It should appear when your phone is connected via USB. If it doesn't make sure you are using an original apple cable, and are plugged directly into the computer (not a hub)
