Is it possible for the Bluetooth on a phone to stop working?

My son’s iPhone 12 is having issues connecting to multiple Bluetooth devices for several months. It seems to have happened since the most recent IOS update. Is that something Apple would provide support for or would be covered under an insurance plan?
