How to turn off find my phone when the phone is damaged and does not work?

I am returning my iphone 13 pro for an insurance claim. It says I must turn off "find my phone" prior to returning the damaged phone. The phone is not functioning for me to log in and turn it off. How do I do this? I tried to log into Apple ID on my pc laptop with no luck to try to manage from there.

You need to log into https://appleid.apple.com and go to devices in the left menu, then select the device, then remove it from your account.
