I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro with MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. I can't download the latest version of Garageband so I need to get the older version. How can I get this?

Have you looked in your purchase history, as Keith recommended?
At the AppStore (with macOS 10.13 High Sierra), open the fourth tab with your previous purchases, not the first tab. On the first tab you can only download the new, current versions. The purchase history might offer you to reinstall older versions for your system.
Thanks for the reply. I saw the download "cloud" and clicked on it but it's for the newer version and my old MacBook Pro can't get the newer iOS. Guess I'm outa luck until I purchase new.
If you have gotten it before, it will be in your app store purchases. If not, there is no easy way to get older versions.
