hi wondering if can use iMac late 2013 as external monitor for my win laptop. my laptop got hdmi a iMac got two thunderbolt 1-2 on back so if I use mini display port that will work? as could not found any hdmi to thunderbolt 1-2 cables

iMac 21.5 Late 2012 Target display for windows PC Is the iMac 21.5 late 2012 model able to be used as a monitor for a pc via target display so I can switch back and forth between windows and Mac machines? I’ve tried hooking up the thunderbolt 1 to HDMI adapter to the pc and the pressing Command + F2 but nothing seems to happen. Is there some driver or software I need beforehand to get this working or is it possible at all?

How to use iMac (late 2013) as an external monitor for laptop PC (Lenovo Thinkpad T480s) I connected an apple Thunderbolt cable from the iMac to a TB to USB adapter to the laptop. I am reading that I should be able to use target display mode and this way use the Mac as an external monitor. Nothing happens when I connect the two devices or reboot... any advise?

No, your 2013 iMac will not work as a display for a PC.

+1 Target Display Mode Has been dead for years. If your PC needs an external display you will need to buy one?
