software update - not showing 11.6.4 release

So I noticed 11.6.4 was released. I went to my software update to grab that release. However, when I do a software update ( Systems Preferences > software update ) I don't get any software updates for Big Sur shows only macOS Monterey Updates. This only happens on one computer.

But I can redownload the entire 11.6.4 Big Sur download (12GB) for the App Store and apply it.

Any fix for this?

Thats the issue. That "More Info" under Another update is available with 11.6.4 didn't show up. I did end up downloading the entire 12GB big sur for 11.6.4 and only then that "More info" showed up with the new safari update.

softwareupdate --list-full-installers - shows the entire full installer. But it should allow me to install just the 11.6.4 incremental update as an option.

The Apple Software Update applet has been iffy at Best for sometime IMHO.

What is the output from Terminal command below ? Does it list Big Sur 11.6.4 ?

softwareupdate --list-full-installers

If it does list 11.6.4 and to get around the flaky Software Update applet - terminal again and this command

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.6.4

This will download the Full Version and will not automatically launch.

It will place a new application in Applications Folders called " Install Big Sur "

Suggest good practices and perform a Time Machine Backup at that point.

Then and only then launch the Install Big Sur.

There are issues agreed.

Some are reasonable and understandable and some are not.

This one I do understand as the Apples' Line-up of computers are still running both Intel and Add the Apple Silicon M1 ARMs based machines.

The Applet is sending info, about this computer, to the Apple Servers and in-turn looking for the appropriate bits & pieces of the update to match Intel or ARMS components and then is downloaded.

Things will happen and this is the result

All the above is IMHO.
