sidebar does not show documents folder

Finder sidebar does not show Documents category. What to do?

Finder won't allow folders to be added to sidebar. How can I get my folders back into my sidebar? It no longer shows Desktop, Downloads or any folders I use regularly. I only see iCloud Drive, Shared, Peg's iMac and my external Hard Drives. Dragging folder into sidebar doesn't work. Selecting the folder and then adding it to favorites from Finder File menu is not an option given. Monterey 12.2.1

Why are the arrows to the left of folders missing? For some reason, the black arrows to the left of folders in every Finder window, are not there in my Documents Finder window! This is really inconvenient, as I just want them to open without opening each one in a separate window! I just want their contents to drop down, but I can find no setting that's any different for that window than any of the others, which all have the arrows. I'm find this quite perplexing, any ideas?

some folders are showing on the sidebar in finder I recently learned that if i keep pressing on the FINDER icon it will show me the list of folders, but some folders that showing are not on the sidebar. I am wondering why only these folders are showing not other folders in my Documents or Pictures.

Go to Finder > Preferences > Sidebar (in the top of the Preferences window) and turn it on.

Also note that if you have iCloud Desktop & Documents turned on, it will be in the iCloud section of the sidebar rather than in the Favorites seection.
