Users folder question...

Hi,

In my Users folder, there's a untitled folder with nothing in it.

1) Should that be there?

2) My brother said he has a Guest folder in his Users folder. I don't. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hey Imagine!

Its not a default folder, so my guess is a folder was accidentally created and given the default name of a new folder, “Untitled”. So if there’s nothing in it, it’s safe to just delete.

Hope that helps!

No worries!

I believe that whenever a Guest user is enabled in System Preferences > Users and Groups, this default folder is created.

You can disable or enable the Guest user if you need to in those Settings.

All it is is a feature to allow guests of your home to be able to use your Mac and access the web, only they cannot save anything to, or access anything in your Mac, and everything done in the Guest user is erased once’s logged out, so a Guest user cannot even save anything on the Mac, it’s really just a courtesy setting for guests.

So yes, this is normal if a Guest user was ever enabled, so not a big deal, it can be deleted if you wanted to.
