iTunes is claiming i need to update but it is the latest version. Please help

Using iTunes on a windows computer. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version from the apple site. Trying to restore iphone (oo many passcode attempts lockout) and the itunes program keeps giving the error that I need to update to the latest itunes to continue. Went to help and checked for updates in the itunes program. Got the notification that the program is up to date. Same notification when i try to restore the phone.

It sounds like you are still running Windows 7 or 8, in which case iTunes cannot be updated beyond version 12.10.11 because the latest versions that support iOS 15 require Windows 10 or 11.

To expand on what Jonny DEP has told you, iTunes on a Windows 7 (or 8) machine will tell you that iTunes is "up to date" but really, it should say "your version of iTunes is up to date for this operating system", which might provide more information about what is happening.
