Confusion about iCloud backup

If I turn off Photos, Messages, etc. in iCloud on my iPhone, which means that everything is only stored in my iPhone, and nothing is synched with other units, will Photos, Messages (incl. attachments), etc. be included in an iCloud Backup of my iPhone?

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 15

Yes, see -> What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support and note the footnotes/fine print.

If you disable iCloud photo sync’ing and messages in iCloud sync’ing then both those will revert to being included in your iCloud backup file.

Thank you very much for your answer, Michael!

However, if I do that, I still see e.g., 'Photos' and 'Messages' as separate entities (with different colors) in the "iCloud Storage

Space Bar", and they both are much bigger than the one for the 'Backup'. I had thought that there would only be one large entity for 'Backup'.

Cheers,

Eric
