iCloud back ups

I have 5 gbs in total, I’ve only used 2.4 and my phone claims there isn’t enough space for me to be able to back up my iphone. I’ve tried to manage my storage and 2.4 is just the lowest for everything I have which isn’t much. So what more can I do? what’s “enough space” to be able to back up my phone?
