editing a PDF with acrobat acrobat pro?

i have a PDF someone sent me and i would like to edit it with adobe acrobat pro?

can i do this?

how do i know if i can do it?

can i convert it to some kind of text external to adobes acrobat pro?

If the PDF has been set as protected, then that's probably what's blocking you. Open any PDF and press Command+D. Under Security, you'll see you can set a password just to open the file. Or, you can set other security features such as allowing high resolution printing or not. And relative to this topic, disallow editing.
