auto correct does not work in mac mail

I have the same problem - I installed Grammarly, tried it but it clashed with Autocreect so I uninstalled it. Now Autocorrect is really temperamental and rarely works. I have set and reset the keyboard options as above but to no avail.

@Pmoore43 - Were you ever able to find a solution? I'm having the same issue. I believe it is related to Grammerly. Mac Mail no longer red underlines mispelled words. Ugh!

Could be a conflict with Grammarly and mail since both have auto correct. I don't know if turning of autocorrect in keyboard/text would help, but you could try it. There seems to be no way in Grammarly to turn off autocorrect.It only mentions uninstalling it.

In system preferences Keyboard/text. Check if correct spelling automatically is checked. If it is uncheck restart and then re-check it. See if that works.
