Cellular on Apple Watch
What is cellular needed for on the Apple Watch? Does the fall detection feature still work without cellular?

Cellular lets you leave your powered on and connected to the Internet iPhone at home while you go for walk, run, bike ride, etc... and still make/receive phone calls, messages, etc...
Fall Detection works in the GPS only model or a cellular that does not have a contract, as long as your iPhone is nearby. The Apple Watch will make a Bluetooth connection to the iPhone and call emergency services.
The GPS only model (and cellular without a cellular contract) will do everything the cellular model will do, as long as the iPhone is nearby.
