How do you change the view of the Downloads folder, that you access from the dock?

For the life of me I can't figure out why the downloads folder, when accessed from the dock (not in finder) is in Icon format only. I need it to be as a list. Please help!

download folder in dock 2022 My download folder in dock went away. I restored it from Finder but it doesn't show, open or fan downloads. The only thing it does is take you back to finder. I am trying to get the stack back in Dock.

How do I resize the Download folder docks I accidentally removed my downloads folder from the dock. I added it back without problems but earlier my downloads would appear as a list with the most recent ones at the bottom, allowing me to access them quickly. To find an older download, I'd have to go to the main folder which was okay with me. However, after I re-added my download folder in docks, my 'quick access' files no longer appear on the basis of recents and they aren't in a list form either, rather they're arranged strangely and look as if I opened a folder. Kindly advise
