Applied the 12.2 update to my Mac mini i7 2018. Sleep no longer works.
I reset SMC and NVRAM. Did Not Fix.
So I completely erased the disk and performed a clean install of 12.2. With no other software installed the system can not be put to sleep nor will it go to sleep automatically. Worked fine with 12.1. Definitely an OS problem. The system starts to go to sleep but immediately wakes up in 5 seconds or so.
With the Apple Keyboard turned off and the Apple Mouse turned off, I connected a Dell wired mouse to the unit. I can now command to sleep OK and it stays asleep. So something in Bluetooth is messed up.
I am having this same issue on my 2013 Mac Pro. I also have random shutdowns when the Mac is unattended. Bluetooth and WiFi are off. My keyboard and mouse are wired. It worked under 12.1. Still works on a Mojave volume. I have tried the reset SMC, etc. route several times.
Try turning off the pointing device and keyboard if they are wireless as a test.
One more thing. I disconnected all USB and thunder bolt peripherals except my Dell 3219 monitor which is connected. Still no go.
