I don't have this "Report Junk" option in the Messages app on my iPhone 7 Plus. Is this a version/compatibility issue?

Read the article very carefully. I have highlighted the important words here from that article.
”With iMessage, a message you receive from someone who isn’t saved in your contacts might be identified as possible spam or junk.”
Yup, I've been doing that for many months now, but it's a pretty tedious 3-step process (copy number, forward text, send number) that can easily result in accidentally calling the sender or clicking on a hyperlink.

Yes, I'm talking about someone (or probably more accurately something) not saved in my contacts... I'm getting multiple robotexts each day, and the associated phone numbers are almost always unique.
On my phone, messages in Messages are only color-coded green or blue when they're outgoing (i.e., from me). Incoming messages are alway dark gray. Not sure why -- maybe an AT&T thing, or a setting I need to adjust? iMessages is enabled.

They will have a tag line above them revealing their nature. It will either say “iMessage” or it will not.
The robotexts are always "Text Message" (not "iMessage"), so looks like that's indeed the issue.
Many cellular carriers (at least in the U.S.) offer “report as spam” options. Forward the message to “SPAM” (7726 on a telephone keypad).
It’s your choice whether to take the trouble to report these. Personally I report them and have never had an issue (accidentally doing anything bad).
