Apple still paid the subscription fee after I cancelled subscription. how can i get a refund

I cancelled the subscription to an app the day of the end of the free trial period but Apple still paid the yearly subscription fee.

How can I get a refund?

Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support

It can take up to a month to process refund.
