Not able to connect Magic Keyboard with ipad

I can't connect my Magic Keyboard with my iPad (2021). It says accesoire not compatible. device is up to date, and a restart did not solve the problem. What to do?

iPad Pro 12.9-inch, 3rd Gen, Wi-Fi, Cell
