Apple will not ship the iPhone internationally for you, the warranty is not international, and you and/or the recipient will be responsible for customs and import duties and related. Whether the cellular carrier will support the iPhone on their network is up to the carrier.

I suppose it can be done, but be advised that the warranty is good only in the country of purchase. It may also be difficult to get service for the phone should it be needed.
