MacBook Disk Storage Management for "Other"

How can I manage my "Other" Storage? This category is using 50 GB of my 121 GB. I cannot tell where to find actual cache and backup files that it is safe to delete. Need help! Am trying to upgrade my OS and cannot due to this.

Other storage macbook Can someone help me to reduce "Other" storage on my hard drive? I've spent the last week looking up recommendations on line and have cleaned up some but not near what I want. I started with 350 GB and now down to 216 GB but can't figure out what's taking up the storage space. Please note I've done the download, backups, dmg, pdf, application support and cache reductions among others. When I Get Info on the HD, it shows 395 GB in use but when I Get info on the four folders in HD, it only totals 136 GB. Can anyone tell me where the other 260 GB is located? My OS is Big Sur.

System Storage on MacBook Air My system storage on my Macbook Air (macOS High Sierra - V.10.13.6) is taking up 83.15GB. How do I reduct it? I'm no longer able to back up my computer due to the limited space. Thank you for your help! -Melissa

System Storage space Hello, I have spent several days trying to free up space on my MacBook Pro. Currently 237 GB of my 500GB mac is take up by "System storage". When I run programs like DaisyDisk it says that only about 6 GB is actually system storage and the rest is hidden files of some sort. I can't figure out what could possibly be taking up so much space! And no its not time machine backups I checked. For reference I am currently using macOS High Sierra.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support, log in, and restart into normal mode and view your Storage again.
