CD drive to read photo CD's on 2019 MacBook Pro 16" (no disc drive)

I need a CD reader for a 2019 MacBook Pro 16" (which has no disc drive), in order to read and transfer photos that are stored on a CD.

Apple support says the USB SuperDrive isn't compatible.

Online specs are unclear.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.0

USB Superdrive I have a iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017) and am operating MacOS Monterey. I recently received a USB Superdrive and am having difficulty getting it to work for the purpose I purchased it. My main objective was to read the many stock photo cds I have purchased over time and use the images in current projects. When I insert the cds, I get a message that my computer can't read the cd. Is there a way I can fix something so the Superdrive will read the cds and I can use the images purchased? I need to be able to access all of the images from the cds and thought the Superdrive would help me accomplish that. Any clear advice for a non-techie would be helpful. Thank you.

CD/DVD read/write that I can use with my new generation 24" Mac running Monterey? I have TWO apple devices and neither works. I got a message from the computer to attach the device to a powered outlet rather than via a hub. I tried this with both types of outlets (four total) on my machine, with a USB to C cp connection, and neither worked--neither device and neither connection. Is this usual or is something awry already? I have tons of photos on CDs that I would like to be able to access.. If the Apple readers won't work, has anyone found one that will? Thanks.

Apple USB Super Drive Do I need to purchase the Apple USB Super Drive if I want to display photos on a CD that I burned from another computer?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

The Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple will work just fine. You'll also need an Apple USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple.
