i get a "no signal" mesage on the tv when i turn on my apple tv

a set up that has been working for several years is now not working -- when i click the remote to turn on my apple tv box it turns on but when i switch the tv input selector to the apple tv i get a "no signal" message

My Apple TV gen 3 light just flashes My Apple TV Gen 3 light just flashes expect when I press the main button on the remote then it goes out. There is nothing on my tv screen, except {NO SIGNAL}. I changed battery in remote and checked all connections.

Try unplugging the HDMI cable on both ends, then re-connect, and try again.
