Back to Yosemite

I got an iMac from mid2007. Just tried to upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan but it doesn´t work. Now it seems unlikely to return to Yosemite 10.10.5. Help!

Do you have a time machine backup with Yosemite? If so you can restore Yosemite from that.

Do you have the original install DVD? If so you can reinstall Snow Leopard then upgrade back to Yosemite. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683

Your third choice is to make El Capitan work. Speak of, why doen't it work? Is it just impractically slow or does it literally not work? It it literally does not work at all where/how does it fail?

Your fourth choice is to switch to Linux or Windows. I've heard good things about Mint Linux.

Thank you

There is no time machine available as there is neither a Yosemite nor El Capitan available to drive the process.

I did in fact try to install Snow Leopard, but the uninstalled EL Capitan seems to obstruct that option.

Enclosed message saids that El Capitan “.. cannot be installed as no software is qualified for installation”

What to do?

Best Regards

Kurt
