Deleting Big sur installer

Hi I’m trying ong to upgrade my Mac to the new update Monterey but I don’t have enough space. Can I delete the Big sur installer to clear up 12.42 GB? Will it change my computer? I’ve already had the Big sur update for awhile

Big sur OS downloaded on HD and now occupying a larger space While updating my Mac, the system downloaded Big Sur OS. Unfortunately it occupied a lot of space and the update didn't go through. The update demanded another 17GB free space which I don't have on my MAC. Now the Big Sur is somewhere installed on my HD and is using 12 GB space and my free space is reduced from 17GB to 5 GB . Mac OS Big Sur Update Hi, If i install the latest update Big Sur from Catalina, does the prior get uninstalled atuomatically and free up the space consumed. Or is it necessary to manually do it. if the latter could you provide ABC to do it.

Yes, but I'd archive it on an external disk, just in case.

Agree with @Matti Haveri - archive it on reliable External Drive - it could be handy for making a Bootable Installer in the future
