Notes Realtime Syncing

I don't recall this being an issue before, but I've realized over the past few weeks that content in Notes aren't immediately syncing between macOS and iOS, at least in one direction.

After typing for a bit in iOS Notes, the text immediately appears on macOS Notes.

But when doing the opposite -- typing in macOS Notes -- the text does not appear on iOS Notes. Not unless I restart the app, or start typing enough for it to auto sync, and then it jumps to catch up.

Am I crazy or has it never synced in realtime both directions?

(This was happening with Big Sur and iOS 15 for several weeks, and still today with Monterey 12.0.1 and iOS 15.1)

Confirmed that it should effectively sync in realtime, and finally solved this by deleting Notes on iOS, reinstalling, and turning Notes back on in iCloud for iOS.
