"user does not exist (in reply to RCPT TO command)" when sending to custom domain

I have my domain registered through Namecheap. Everything looks good there:

https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#MX/gabeanzelini.com

https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#TXT/gabeanzelini.com

https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#CNAME/gabeanzelini.com

However, when I email myself from my iCloud or my wife's gmail, I get the following bounce-back:

SUBJECT:

Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender

BODY:

This is a system-generated message to inform you that your email could not

be delivered to one or more recipients. Details of the email and the error are as follows:

<THE EMAIL ADDRESS I AM SENDING TO>: host mx01.mail.icloud.com[17.57.152.9] said: 550 5.1.1

<**@****************>: user does not exist (in reply to RCPT TO command)

I contacted apple support and they said it was Namecheap's issue. I contacted them and they sent me those links and, comparing them to what I was told to enter, they match. I'm at a loss from here.

Okay, following advice from someone else I found a fix

Setup the domain first, skip the 'add emails' stage and verify the domain.

Once the domain is verified and working THEN you can add your main email you also use for your Apple ID and it'll work correctly

If you setup the email you use for your Apple ID the same time you first setup the custom mail domain, it'll cause the issue where that specific address always spits out a "User does not exist" reply.
