Have you by change recently upgraded to a later version OS? If so, Microsoft thinks you have a new computer and the Office products will need to be reactivated. If reactivation fails, you very likely need a new version of Word and other Office products as well.

If reactivation is not the problem, please supply complete details of your Mac (less serial number) and what version of Word you're using.

This looks like a bit more than a simple need for reactivation.

Apparently Microsoft doesn't offer repair for the Mac versions of Office like they do with Windows. When I had a problem with Office 2016, I chatted with Microsoft and the agent took control of my system (with my approval) and proceeded to reinstall the suite. I'd suggest you do the same and let the agent try and determine what the problem is.

Or, you can uninstall and reinstall the product yourself; you'll need the license key to do that. I don't remember if the key was necessary to do a repair, but I've have it available if needed.
