Apple TV is flashing and pausing and stopping. Unable to watch a streaming show on my mac.

Start with a Restart:
Restart your computer, and see if it then works.
If TheLittles' suggestion does not help, try force shutdown of the Apple TV.
On the Siri Remote: hold down the Home and Menu buttons. The Sleep Now? menu may appear, but keep holding down the Home and Menu buttons. Hold these buttons for at least 10 seconds, eventually it will restart.
On the Apple Remote (third-generation Apple TV's and older): hold down the Menu and Down buttons. Eventually (possible 10-15 seconds later) the Apple TV will restart.
If neither of these works, unplug power to the Apple TV. Wait five minutes with the power off. Then plug in power again and see if it has recovered.
