Hi all,
I just got my new Mac Mini, running Big Sur 11.6, unit runs fine. However, I'm unable to create new folders on my hard drive, and it won't let me change permissions. I can click the lock in the "Get Info" window that opens, and I can enter my password, but it says I don't have permission. I can't add anything to my drive, I can't create folders, what do I do?
You cannot add a folder there! You must add a folder in another location, such as Users > [your name], iCloud, etc.

Where are you attempting to create a new folder?

On the "Macintosh HD". When I open it, there are four folders...
Applications
Library
System
Users
I try to click "Add Folder", but it's greyed out. If I attempt to move a folder to the Macintosh HD, it will not let me. I don't understand what's happening.
Okay, thank you. Is this new? I've been adding folders to my hard drive for organizational purposes ever since I can remember. I've never had to go to a different place to add folders. Progress I guess :)

I honestly don't know, but I do believe a change such as this may have come around macOS Catalina, but I have never stored files there.
