Cancel trade in? Prevent wasted shipping box.

I’m getting an iPhone 13pro max. I originally was set to trade in my current iPhone 11 pro max, but a friend of mine has decided they’d like to buy it from me.

I hate for Apple to waste the time and money shipping me a trade in box, but I can’t figure out how to cancel the trade in in advance.

Is there a way?
