Is Visual Lookup only available in the US?

Visual Lookup and the search are 2 different things.

I was suggesting pets for the visual lookup as it works best for me with those subjects. Though a couple pictures of flowers have also worked.

Haven't gotten it to work on other things though.

Limitation would be no problem, but even sample pictures Apple uses on their website are not recognized. The search feature in photos finds pets, flowers and other things though (but that feature was introduced earlier)

I know that it‘s still limited. No problem. But for regions other than US it simply does not seem to work at all. I screenshotted your pictures and they will not show that visual lookup icon. So it‘s not about the pictures but about region.

I‘m fine with that limitation (hope it will work eventually) but it‘s not documented yet. The German support page even explains how it (should) work. No hint that it does not yet.

(By the way: I don‘t understand why searching a picture is different from recognizing pets or flowers in a picture instantly. The underlying algorithm should do almost the same: build some index on what is in the picture so that you can search it - or show what the algorithm understood)

May I ask why this is? Apple really needs to stop advertising features then at a later date mentioning it was US only.

With Apple Card, I understand why that was US only initially, despite it being a few years and it still being available in UK. However, I do not understand why visual lookup would be country specific?

Yes, currently Visual Lookup is available only if region is set to US.

Even changing region to US does not help though!

Visual Lookup seems to be rather limited still. Try a picture with a pet, a cat, dog etc...

I've been able to get it to work with pets, but nothing else yet.

Works with my photos taken with iPhone X but not with new iPhone 13 pro

I don't know why Apple chose to roll out this feature in US only.
