IpadOs 14.4 upgrade breaks cellular data - update

My previous question abut this has been locked so I've to mak a new one for the update. Good news, the 14.8 upgrade of IpadOs fixed the problem. Now cellular data is working again using the same simcard. It would nice to know if this is just a coincidence or known bug fix. Can I do any more upgrades or should I stay on 14.8 forever?

Given that all devices running iPadOS14 should have been updated to the current release, iPadOS14.8, issues with earlier versions are somewhat irrelevant. Your own issue having been resolved is the key point.

Your iPad Pro is capable of running iPadOS15 - which will be released later today. If you have any concerns, you might delay updating to the new OS for a few days while the initial flurry of early adopters update and note any significant problems.

Apple have indicated that security updates will continue to be released for iOS/iPadOS14; for those that choose to retain the existing version will continue to be protected from emerging security threats. That said, whether you elect to retain iPadOS14, or update to the next iteration of iPadOS, you would be well advised to update whenever an update is released. Keeping your OS updated provides essential protection from malware and other exploits.

This looks lika an official answer not addressing the problem.

I agree that upgrades are necessary and I also understand that sometimes they may go wrong BUT I can't understand why Apple don't allow me to revert back to the previous version, that works, until the issue is resolved. For me, this is a very arrogant way of doing customer care.

Contributors within the Apple Support Communities are, by and large, all end-users - just like you and me. We share information and guidance with the intention of helping others with their issues - providing advice where we can.

Other that the Moderation Team, and the Apple Specialists (that you can identify by this identifier that accompanies their avatar), Apple do participate within these technical forums. The Specialists usually only contribute where a post goes unanswered for several days - or if an issue relates to product safety.

As such, no - mine was not an “official answer” from Apple.

Your problem with iPadOS 14.4 was unlucky. We have not seen specific or regular reports of Cellular issues with any specific release of iPadOS - suggesting that you issue was an isolated problem.
