Why am I unable to get to the iTunes Store search window to buy new music

Are you clicking in the search box at the top of the sidebar on the left side of the window and then clicking iTunes Store at the top right of the window?

If you don't see the iTunes Store
In the latest version of macOS, the iTunes Store might be hidden. Here’s how to find it:
- Open the Apple Music app.
- In the menu bar, choose Music > Preferences.
- Go to the General tab and select iTunes Store.
- Click OK.
