I am running macOS 10.12.6 and want to upgrade to High Sierra.
I managed to open the link https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/macos-high-sierra/id1246284741?mt=12 and "download" High Sierra. Actually the link opens App store and the High Sierra icon says 'open'. When I click it I get an error message saying: This copy of the install is damaged and can't be used to install. See attached screenshot.
How can I get High Sierra?

But if the old copy still exists you'll just get the same Open choice & Corrupt message.

Naw, not damaged, it's just that you have an old copy already in Applications, there are 2 cures...
Disconnect from the Internet & set the Date back to 2014, then you can run the Install MacsOS High Sierra App in Applications, so expired Certificates are not expired.
Or... trash the Install MacsOS High Sierra.app in Applications, empty trash & restart, then a new copy of a more recent version can be downloaded…
I do find the High Sierra icon in the applications folder (it claims to be 5 GB, though it felt like it got downloaded in seconds...)
Again, when I click the icon in the applications folder, I get the same error message...

BTW, any idea where I could have gotten a new copy? My research online only got me the download link at apple.com.
