My Macbook pro shows that wifi is on but doesn't show any available networks. How do I fix it?

Macbook can only connect through ethernet. Why does it not show any available wifi networks?

Hi mattgootz,

Welcome to the Apple Community, where some of us do our best to help each other troubleshoot.

Wondering

  • if wi-fi has been in use and has dropped out,
  • is being connected for the first time.
  • which version of MacBook Pro (Year)
  • which OS (eg: Big Sur) is installed

If it is on, you might want to try turning off Bluetooth, then see if wi-fi networks become available.

If you still need help:

You can try:

  • turning your modem on and off.
  • restarting your MacBook Pro.
  • checking system preferences > network to ensure wi-fi is listed there. (add it, if not)
  • checking with your wi-fi provider that all is in order.
