MacBook on Big Sur doesn't read PDF

I can no longer read any pdf sent to me. This has been going on for over 2 months. Adobe PDF pro DC pops up and says I have to buy it or I cannot read PDF's. I don't want to mark up documents I just want to be able to read them and now I cannot. Help!!!!

PDFs won't open after updating to OS Big Sur I had problems with my MacBook Air and rebooted the lot following Apple Support's advice (over the phone). Since then, I have been unable to open my PDFs; Word, XLS and other Office documents. I did buy the Office suite for Macs on the old version but do I need to purchase new ones? What if I just want to read my pdfs and word documents etc?

Adobe AcRobat Reader - "could not open" file My Certified Apple tech recently needed to remove my old MacBook Air (13" - 2017) OS system and replaced it with a new MacOS Monterey 12.6.6. Problem. All of my files created using the old 'Pages" can no longer be opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader (which came with the new OS system) by reason quote: "Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open files 'pages' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). The new OS system does not have the very convenient 'Pages' option - for whatsoever reason? Any suggestions please as to how I can once again open those previously generated 'Pages' documents? Thank you

I believe that Adobe provides an uninstaller with the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC trial. I would use that installer, and then, if you have any interest in installing the current Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, do so, or just use Apple's Preview app.

Open them in Preview.

Did you download Reader or Pro? Reader is free.
