difficulty downloading apps

so basically i’m trying to download an app. it keeps saying “verification required” so when i put in my password, it just keeps asking the same thing and the app never downloads. i really need help. if this continues it might be a good idea to call an apple store or go to an apple store. but for now, how do i fix this? please help. thank you,
