Erase, then Reinstall the macOS

You need to reinstall the macOS. Use the Disk Utility on your Mac. Refer to these links:

What was Erased?

Do you mean that you erased the drive? If you just got this yesterday, and it is not working, then contact Apple Support. Perhaps this is a faulty device?
