iphoto with updated MACos
I used iPhoto to edit my photos...new operating system won't open it. What now?

You need to transition to Photos - iPhoto was discontinued 6 years ago.
Launch Photos with the option key held down. From the dialog choose your iPhoto Library.
Photos will create a new library from your iPhoto media. Your iPhoto Library will not be changed, but it will be renamed.
